About the job

The world’s most critical--and at risk--business applications have been neglected for far too long. Onapsis eliminates this blind spot by providing cybersecurity solutions dedicated to business-critical applications. Whether running on premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid environment, Onapsis helps nearly 30% of the Forbes Global 100 understand the threats and risks across their SAP and Oracle landscapes.

We are looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic Software Engineer in Test with Python and JavaScript who want to impact cybersecurity by continuing to advance, maintain, and enhance our platform features in Threat Detection & Response, Vulnerability Management, and Compliance Automation.

What you will be doing, your legacy:

Working with leadership, product management, engineering, and the Onapsis research team. You will design, implement, and execute test procedures to ensure software features work as intended. Focused on automation and advancing automation capabilities, you will also design, build, and use test automation and build automation to ensure our software always fulfills business solution requirements to protect our customers. Work collaboratively as part of a software engineer team aligned with cybersecurity researchers and product managers to iterate toward product definition and realization. Additionally, you will be working with the Architecture team to take the platform to the next level of maturity in terms of technologies, quality, and architecture design while advancing our quality engineering processes to deliver high-quality products and services.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop user-facing features and interfaces using modern front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript frameworks (React).
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging of front-end components to ensure high performance and cross-browser compatibility.
• Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in front-end development, incorporating new technologies and techniques as appropriate.
• Utilize Python to build backend services, APIs, and scripting solutions to support front-end functionality and enhance application features.
• Work alongside senior developers to contribute to the design and implementation of Python-based solutions, following best practices and coding standards.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality and maintainability.
• Continuously expand your knowledge and skills in Python development through self-learning and mentorship opportunities.
• Conduct thorough testing of both front-end and backend components, identifying and addressing any issues or bugs in a timely manner.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues reported by customers or internal stakeholders, providing effective solutions and mitigations.
• Contribute to the improvement of development processes and workflows, advocating for best practices in software quality assurance and testing.

Core Engineering Focus

• Design & Architecture: Ability to translate complex product goals and platform capabilities into scalable, resilient system and automation architectures.
• Orchestration & Integration: Proficiency in stitching together services, APIs, databases, UI components, and test automation pipelines safely and efficiently.
• Problem Solutioning: A track record of evaluating trade-offs, edge cases, system performance, operational cost, and maintenance over raw code volume.

Hands-On AI Leverage

• AI Proficiency: Ability to integrate AI tools, AI-assisted development, or agentic workflows into the build and testing process.
• Proven, practical experience using AI tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, LLM APIs, custom agentic scripts) to accelerate delivery, refactor systems, build automation frameworks, or solve complex engineering problems.
• Ability to demonstrate or detail specific instances where AI workflows support delivering software and automation faster, cleaner, or at higher quality.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience across software development and quality engineering.
• Demonstrated experience designing and building systems or automation solutions using Python and JavaScript / TypeScript.
• Hands-on, practical experience integrating AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, LLM APIs) into daily software delivery.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or relevant work experience.
• Experience with React and modern frontend development standards.
• Experience with tracking, testing, and lifecycle tools, including Test Case Management, Project Planning Tools, and Issue Tracking.
• Experience with APIs (REST, GraphQL) and system integration.
• Experience with Relational databases and ORMs (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy).
• Experience troubleshooting production environments using observability and monitoring tools.
• Software development mastery: Deep understanding of software design, design patterns, coding principles, and agile methodologies.
• Ability to design, build, and maintain automation frameworks: expertise in designing scalable, modular, and maintainable frameworks, handling test data, execution reporting, and configuration management.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work across engineering, research, and product teams.
• Communication and collaboration skills: being able to work within a team, effectively communicate with developers, testers, and other team members to understand requirements.

Desired skills or interests in:

• Familiarity with Django or other Python web frameworks
• Container technology (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Security software development best practices
• Asynchronous tasks/queues (Celery, AMQP, MQTT, Redis)
• Cloud-native application development and Cloud Technologies
• Knowledge of CI / CD tooling and pipeline orchestration
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle
• Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
• Experience communicating technical designs, system strategy, and product features to senior management and technical teams
• Experience driving engineering best practices and AI adoption within your team

What we offer:

• A role in shaping the future of protecting the most critical applications that run the world's business and a career that grows as the company grows.
• A unique culture of high achievement and teamwork.
• Supportive and humble colleagues are the space's top problem solvers and innovators.
