Gatik, the leader in autonomous middle-mile logistics, is revolutionizing the B2B supply chain with its autonomous transportation-as-a-service (ATaaS) solution and prioritizing safe, consistent deliveries while streamlining freight movement by reducing congestion. The company focuses on short-haul, B2B logistics for Fortune 500 retailers and in 2021 launched the world’s first fully driverless commercial transportation service with Walmart. Gatik's Class 3-7 autonomous trucks are commercially deployed across major markets, including Texas, Arkansas, and Ontario, Canada, driving innovation in freight transportation.

The company's proprietary Level 4 autonomous technology, Gatik Carrier™, is custom-built to transport freight safely and efficiently between pick-up and drop-off locations on the middle mile. With robust capabilities in both highway and urban environments, Gatik Carrier™ serves as an all-encompassing solution that integrates advanced software and hardware powering the fleet, facilitating effortless integration into customers' logistics operations.

About the Role

Gatik is looking for an analytical, process-driven, and highly organized Regulatory & Compliance Lead to serve as the central operational authority for regulatory compliance across our fleet of Class 6 and 7 autonomous vehicles. In this role, you will manage asset acquisition paperwork, vehicle titling, multi-state registration, DOT/FMCSA vehicle compliance, and site-level audit governance. Reporting to the Central Operations Leadership, you will partner closely with Market Operations, Fleet & Vendor Operations, and external partners to ensure every depot, maintenance vendor, and active truck meets 100% of regulatory and safety mandates. You will be instrumental in maintaining compliance and safety while helping our autonomous logistics network scale nationwide.

This role is hybrid, 3 days per week in Santa Clara or Phoenix.

What You'll Do

• Vehicle purchasing, titling, and asset onboarding: Oversee asset acquisition documentation, multi-state titling and plating, International Registration Plan (IRP) administration, and central asset lifecycle management across all active markets.
• Regulatory tax, mileage, and carrier governance: Manage quarterly IFTA tax filings, UCR registrations, FMCSA MCS-150 updates, Form 2290 filings, and state-level AV testing and deployment operating authority permits.
• On-site depot audits and field compliance: Design and execute quarterly compliance audit programs across regional depots, audit vehicle inspection and maintenance records, ensure facility permit compliance, and conduct vendor shop audits.
• Safety data, DataQs, and continuous improvement: Monitor FMCSA BASIC scores, handle DataQs challenge filings to correct roadside inspection findings, lead closed-loop remediation (RCAs/CAPs), and maintain Central Compliance SOPs.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in commercial fleet compliance, DOT/FMCSA regulatory management, or central fleet operations for Class 6, 7, or 8 commercial motor vehicles or R&D fleets.
• Hands-on experience managing multi-state titling, IRP, registrations, IFTA tax reporting, and state DMV processes.
• Deep working knowledge of FMCSA Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), state DOT rules, vehicle inspection standards, and motor carrier tax compliance.
• Experience designing and conducting physical compliance audits across multi-site or regional fleet depots.
• Proficiency with fleet management systems, telematics/ELD platforms, eDVIR tools, state DMV commercial portals, and the FMCSA Portal and DataQs system.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% for site audits, team training, and market launch compliance setup.
• Meticulous attention to detail and high ethical standards regarding regulatory compliance and safety.
• NATMI Certified Director of Safety (CDS) or Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS) preferred.
• Experience with autonomous vehicles, ADAS, high-utilization commercial fleets, or middle-mile logistics hubs preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, or equivalent practical experience preferred.

More about Gatik

Founded in 2017 by experts in autonomous vehicle technology, Gatik has rapidly expanded its presence to Mountain View, Dallas-Fort Worth, Arkansas, and Toronto. As the first and only company to achieve fully driverless middle-mile commercial deliveries, Gatik holds a unique and defensible position in the AV industry, with a clear trajectory toward sustainable growth and profitability.

We have delivered complete, proprietary AV technology - an integration of software and hardware - to enable earlier successes for our clients in constrained Level 4 autonomy. By choosing the middle mile – with defined point-to-point delivery, we have simplified some of the more complex AV challenges, enabling us to achieve full autonomy ahead of competitors. Given extensive knowledge of Gatik’s well-defined, fixed route ODDs and hybrid architecture, we are able to hyper-optimize our models with exponentially less data, establish gate-keeping mechanisms to maintain explainability, and ensure continued safety of the system for unmanned operations.
