DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

The Manager, Summer Math Enrichment leads BEAM’s local LA Program team’s efforts to fully enroll and implement BEAM’s summer math enrichment programs for 6th and 7th grade Los Angeles students. BEAM's summer math enrichment programs are unlike that of most other programs. Focusing on problem solving (and, in particular, students learning to solve novel problems that they haven't been explicitly taught), mathematical reasoning, and how students synthesize ideas into big-picture perspectives unlocks a deeper appreciation for math and a long-term interest in STEM. BEAM Discovery, our day camp for rising 6th graders, serves 100-150 students per site and focuses on building math self-confidence and appreciation. BEAM Summer Away, our residential camp for rising 7th graders, serves 40-50 students per site and has a greater emphasis on rigor and perseverance. Both summer programs seek to build a strong community among staff and students with a common interest in STEM.

BEAM students often describe their summer with BEAM as a life-changing experience. It is the catalyst for developing self-confidence in math, and inspiring students to pursue a career in a quant-based STEM field long term. As the Manager, you will have the opportunity to impact LA students at the very beginning of their journey with BEAM and set them on a long term path for success.
