About the Client Service Department

The goal of Client Service is to build and grow meaningful relationships with the world’s largest, most sophisticated investors and help clients achieve their goals through high quality return streams and tailored insights. To this end, we deeply understand the global pools of capital, develop strategies to effectively develop relationships, and partner with clients on their most difficult investment and portfolio construction problems. We help our clients broaden their understanding of our investment process, strategies and performance as well as deepen their understanding of financial markets more generally.

About Your Role

You will help shape the next phase of Bridgewater's visual identity and bring it to life across internal and external channels. This is a hands-on design role with significant creative ownership and room to experiment and build. You will move fluidly between building the visual design system and designing within it, and you will partner closely with the Creative Director and the Head of External Communications and Affairs to create the tools, standards, systems and assets that support it.

You will drive the following responsibilities:

• Evolving Bridgewater’s visual identity: Help develop and refine our visual language including typography, color, imagery, graphic systems, iconography, and other core brand elements.
• Build the brand system: Partner with the Creative Director and Head of External Communications and Affairs to co-develop practical brand guidelines and a scalable design architecture that creates consistency without sacrificing creativity.
• Turn the system into exceptional work: Apply the brand system across a wide range of touchpoints from retail ads to recruiting materials to our website and social media and beyond.
• Raise the creative bar: Bring exceptional taste and a strong point of view while being open-minded and able to quickly loop on feedback. Push beyond the obvious solution and continually look for ways to make our creative output more distinctive and original.
• Create with independence: Take loose ideas and sketches and harden them into strong designs – know when to seek input and when to run.
• Think beyond individual deliverables. Recognize when a design problem should become a re-usable system, template or principle rather than a one-time solution and help fold it into the architecture we co-create together.
• Make complex ideas visual: Work with writers, investors and other partners to translate sophisticated concepts into clear and memorable graphics.

The anticipated onsite requirement for this role is four days per week, primarily at our New York City campus. A subset of teams, including our Client Service team, operates on a hybrid schedule alternating between our New York City and Westport campuses.

Minimum Qualifications

The right person is much more than a graphic designer. They are a highly skilled maker and craftsperson with exceptional taste, but also a systems thinker. Someone who understands how typography, color, imagery, layout, texture, and space work together to create a distinctive and coherent visual brand.

We want someone who is a fountain of ideas, who is voracious for room to run, and who isn’t afraid to experiment and fail. This person needs thick skin and needs to be able to ingest feedback and evolve quickly. They need to channel and amplify our brand in a way that is impactful and memorable, which will require a lot of research and development. This person should be a powerhouse graphic designer with a portfolio that immediately demonstrates exceptional craft, judgement, and taste.

This person WANTS to spend most of their time doing hands-on-keys design. They have strong opinions that are loosely held. They can articulate why something works while still being open to being wrong and having the agility to pivot. We’re looking for:

• 5-7+ years of professional graphic design or brand design experience, ideally with a sophisticated in-house brand team, design studio or creative agency
• Advanced proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and Figma
• Exceptional typography, composition, color and layout skills, with experience designing across both digital and physical applications
• Portfolio with a case study showing improvements through iteration, and proven experience creating or applying brand guidelines

About Bridgewater

Bridgewater Associates is a global macro investment firm, founded in 1975, whose mission is to develop a fundamental, cause-and-effect understanding of how markets and economies work—and translate that understanding into insights, returns, and solutions that help the world’s leading institutional investors solve their most important investment challenges.

Over five decades, we have codified our fundamental understanding into a systematic investment process—integrating human judgment with machine intelligence with the goal of applying our thinking consistently, testing it against reality, and continuously improving decision-making over time. We believe this has created a unique platform for applying AI within our process, positioning us at the frontier of integrating technology with investment decision-making.

In financial markets—where reality is constantly evolving and outcomes are uncertain—sustained excellence requires continuous learning and improvement. Our culture—anchored in radical truth and transparency—helps us learn faster.

Our Culture

Bridgewater’s culture is anchored in the pursuit of excellence—tied directly to our mission. In financial markets, where the base case is failure and reality is constantly evolving, winning requires continuous learning and improvement. Truth is our most essential tool for improvement, and transparency helps us get closer to truth because it places many eyes on our decisions, problems, and mistakes. By understanding reality clearly, we can identify the gap between where we are and where we want to be—and use that knowledge to learn and get better. Our system that supports this way of being is an idea meritocracy, where we commit to finding and rewarding the best ideas regardless of hierarchy.

Operating in these ways is hard. Finding truth and learning through it is inherently a high-friction cycle. It’s possible because we share a few core values: a commitment to honesty, high ownership, deeply meaningful work and relationships, and building Bridgewater as a big tent where vast differences are welcomed. These values create the common denominator that binds us together in good times and bad.

Benefits

One of our core priorities at Bridgewater is to enable our employees to build a great life and career, and we believe our benefits are an important extension of that philosophy. As such, currently Bridgewater offers a competitive suite of benefits, including health insurance, retirement benefits, paid leave, and other fringe benefits. Bridgewater reserves the right to change its current benefits program at any time, in a manner that is consistent with applicable federal and state regulations.
