Senior Analyst, Demand Spend
Kinder's
Walnut Creek
BUILT ON FLAVOR. FUELED BY PEOPLE.
What’s it like to work at Kinder’s? Well, there’s a lot of snacking and geeking out over what we all cooked over the weekend. Beyond that, there’s also plenty of hard work. Because we don’t just like flavor, we’re obsessed with it.
With over 100 products sold nationwide, we’re now a top-five brand in multiple flavor categories at Costco, Walmart, Whole Foods, and more. We’re not your typical CPG company. Privately held and founder-led, we like to think of ourselves as a pirate ship in a sea of cruise ships. Our crew is adventurous and fearless. We chart our own course and chase big ideas to make food unforgettable.
As we expand globally and approach $1 billion in revenue, we need more smart-and-scrappy, flavor-obsessed people to come aboard. If you’re looking for a place where you can see the real impact of your work... this is it! Every day, you’ll be part of a journey to add flavor to millions of meals and lives.
About The Role
The Senior Analyst, Demand Spend supports the financial reporting and analysis behind Kinder’s trade and shopper marketing investment. Supporting the Trade and Shopper Marketing Finance leader, this role partners with Sales, Sales Operations, Shopper Marketing, Accounting, Customer Finance, and Sales Strategy & Planning.
The role covers monthly accruals, spend tracking, deduction and settlement reconciliation, and promotional ROI. You will keep recurring reports accurate, investigate differences across data sources, and explain results in plain terms.
This is a detail-driven role in a function that is growing at Kinder’s. Strong Excel skills and comfort with business data matter most; advanced programming or automation skills are not required.
Key Responsibilities
Trade & Shopper Marketing Reporting
- Prepare and maintain recurring reports on trade and shopper marketing spend, including spend vs. plan, customer summaries, and promotional performance.
- Extract, reconcile, and validate data from the TPM system, ERP, and syndicated data so reporting is accurate and consistent.
- Keep report files, definitions, and supporting documentation organized and auditable.
Accruals, Variance Analysis & Controls
- Support the monthly trade and shopper marketing accrual process: compile inputs, prepare calculations, compare estimates with actuals, and coordinate review with Accounting and Financial Planning.
- Track spend vs. plan by customer and channel and explain material variances.
- Support broker and distributor settlement validation and deduction research.
- Support month-end close, year-end true-ups, and audit requests.
Promotion Analysis & Compliance
- Support pre-event estimates and post-event reviews by organizing baseline and incremental sales data.
- Prepare post-event ROI summaries by event, customer, brand, or SKU using established methods, note data limitations, and keep shared files of results and benchmarks up to date.
- Identify programs with results that differ from expectations and prepare clear analysis for Sales and the Trade and Shopper Marketing Finance leader.
- Support scenario analyses for trade rates, promotional mechanics, and customer proposals.
- Track compliance with contracted trade terms and approved funding and work with Sales and Sales Operations to resolve any issues.
Business Partnership
- Partner with Sales, Sales Operations, Customer Finance, Accounting, and Sales Strategy & Planning to keep trade and shopper marketing information current.
- Work with Sales Operations to keep TPM system data accurate and resolve data questions.
- Coordinate with Customer Finance and Accounting to reconcile customer-level spending, accruals, actuals, and deductions.
- Share reports and findings clearly, tailoring explanations for Finance and cross-functional audiences.
- Suggest practical improvements to reports, processes, and data checks.
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Commercial Finance, Trade Finance, or related analytical roles.
- Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods, Food & Beverage, Retail, or related industries preferred.
- Working knowledge of financial reporting, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to organize data, use formulas, and maintain recurring reports; familiarity with Power Query or Power BI is a plus.
- Ability to work carefully with data from multiple sources and investigate differences before reporting results.
- Familiarity with trade deductions, shopper marketing programs, or trade promotion management systems preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain results clearly to Finance and cross-functional audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through on recurring deadlines.
- Curiosity about customer programs, promotional spending, and how trade investment affects business results.
Location and Travel
The position will be based onsite in Walnut Creek, CA. We strongly believe in the power of culture and community and have a hybrid work structure with 4 days in the office on a weekly basis to encourage collaboration and personal connections that will allow us to better serve our customers and consumer and to have more fun. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, performance and business needs.
SEASONED FOR SUCCESS:
- No two days here are the same.
- We try to be good team members and good communicators, but we don’t live by hierarchy and structure – everyone is a difference maker here.
- We make a lot of decisions in the face of incomplete information – our team embraces ambiguity and tries to make good decisions fast rather than great decisions slow.
- We believe our job is to take smart risk, not to eliminate risk.
- We believe in growing our skills and becoming a better company with more managerial expertise, but we are an entrepreneurial company at heart.
- We aren’t trying to be average – we want to do exceptional things, and we are willing to work hard to achieve them.
BENEFITS THAT BRING MORE TO THE TABLE:
We offer a range of total rewards that may include paid time off, 401k, bonus / incentive eligibility, equity grants, competitive health benefits, and other family-friendly benefits, including parental leave. Kinder’s benefits vary based on eligibility and can be reviewed in more detail during the interview process.
OUR RECIPE FOR BALANCE:
We believe great culture starts with people. We’re a people-first company built on connection, collaboration, and balance. Most of our work happens in the office to spark creativity and community, but we also offer flexibility so team members have the autonomy to work outside the office when needed to support their work-life balance and personal commitments.
