Company Description

Internal Relief Veterinarian

Full-Time • Flexible Schedule • Monday–Friday Only • No Weekends • 5 Weeks PTO

You became a veterinarian to practice medicine—not to chase callbacks, manage endless task lists, or spend your evenings finishing paperwork that wasn’t yours to begin with.

This role was built for the doctor who wants exactly that: show up, do exceptional medicine, and hand off the rest. No long-term client lists. No administrative tail following you home. Just you, your skills, and the work you actually love—spread across three extraordinary hospitals in one of the best states in the country to live and work.

If you’ve been searching for the balance everyone talks about but nobody seems to actually offer—you just found it.

Jobdescription

Job Description

Three Hospitals. One Culture. One Standard of Care.

As our Internal Relief Veterinarian, you’ll travel between three sister hospitals in southeastern New Hampshire—covering for doctors on vacation or leave, stepping in seamlessly, and bringing your best every time you walk through the door.

• Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital — Windham, NH | 2024 AAHA Practice of the Year
• All Pets Veterinary Hospital — Nashua, NH
• Greenland Veterinary Hospital — Greenland, NH

All three hospitals are AAHA-accredited, busy, and fully equipped. Each runs on the same culture—Conscious Care®—our owner’s trademarked program built around compassion for self, team, clients, patients, and community. You won’t feel like a stranger walking in. You’ll feel like you belong.

What Makes This Role Unique

Relief veterinarians at most practices still carry the full weight—the callbacks, the follow-up lists, the administrative details that were never really yours. That’s not how we do it.

Here, you are a doctor. Full stop.

• You see appointments, perform exams, make diagnostic and treatment plans, and do surgery and dentals (don’t like surgery and dentals, no problem)
• Client follow-up and administrative detail stay with the permanent team—not you
• Your task list is lean by design, so your headspace stays on medicine
• A personal assistant supports your appointments—checking in and checking out clients and monitoring your flow throughout the day
• We stay on schedule so you walk out on time, every shift
• You are not expected to cover every vacancy—you have ample room in your schedule for the time off you’ve earned

Qualifications

Your Schedule: Flexible by Design

Your schedule will shift depending on where coverage is needed—but it will always work within your life, not against it. We’re open Monday through Friday only. No weekends. No on-call. No emergencies pulling you in on your days off.

What you can count on:

• Monday–Friday only, no weekend shifts ever
• You are not obligated to fill every open shift—your time off is protected
• 5 weeks of PTO annually
• 30 hours of CE per year, covered
• $2,500 CE allowance to invest in your continued growth
• Hospital closes 2 hrs/week for rounds and training—you’re always in the loop, never out of it

What Relief Actually Looks Like Here

We know what bad relief work feels like. You show up to chaos. Nobody knows you’re coming. The team is frazzled, the systems are unclear, and you spend half the day figuring out where things are instead of practicing medicine.

That is not what you’ll find here. Our hospitals are well-run, team-driven, and deeply collaborative. When you arrive, the staff knows who you are, what you need, and how to support you. You’ll be welcomed—not just tolerated.

Each hospital is powered by three integrated teams—the Customer Experience Team (CET), Technicians (TT), and Veterinary Assistants (VA)—all working in sync to make sure every appointment runs smoothly and every patient gets top-notch care. You step in, you do the medicine, and the team handles the rest.

Who You Are

• DVM or equivalent, with an active New Hampshire veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain)
• Confident and adaptable—you walk into new environments and hit the ground running
• Proficient in general medicine, surgery, and dentistry (surgery and dental optional)
• Experience with avian and exotic species is a welcome bonus, not a requirement
• A clear communicator who works well with teams you’ve never met before
• Reliable and accountable—you show up, you do the work, and you do it well
• A great attitude, because culture matters and kindness travels with you from hospital to hospital

What We Offer

• Competitive compensation
• 5 weeks of PTO annually—real time off, not just a number on paper
• 30 hours of CE + $2,500 CE allowance
• Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, life, liability, 401(k), EAP, pet discounts
• No administrative tail—your after-shift hours are yours
• No weekends, ever
• Advanced equipment at all three hospitals: digital rads, dental rads, Class IV laser, ultrasound, full in-house lab
• Specialist access: boarded surgeon, cardiologist, two traveling internists
• The full support of a 28-year owner who understands the demands of a veterinary career and genuinely invests in her team
• A path forward: if a permanent role, mentorship, or future partnership ever interests you—the door is open
