Amazon CloudWatch is AWS's native monitoring and observability service — the default infrastructure monitoring tool for millions of AWS customers. While CloudWatch excels at attaching to AWS services, the broader observability market has shifted toward end-to-end, application-centric, and agent-centric experiences led by vendors. Many customers are choosing these third-party tools for their multi-cloud and application-layer observability needs. CloudWatch Omni is AWS's strategic answer — a ground-up rebuild of the CloudWatch experience designed to deliver multi-cloud, application-centric, and agent-centric observability. Omni tackles modern use cases including AI agent monitoring, distributed application tracing, and cross-cloud visibility, positioning CloudWatch to compete as a leading full-stack observability vendor.
