About us:

Kiva is a global nonprofit, founded in 2005, with a mission to expand financial access and help underserved communities thrive. Kiva unlocks capital for borrowers through crowdfunded loans supported by individuals around the world. Lenders on Kiva can start with as little as $25 to support causes that matter most to them, whether that’s gender equity and support for women, refugees, climate change, small businesses, agriculture, and more. Since our founding, over two million people have invested over $2 billion in real dreams and real opportunity, spanning more than 100 countries and over 5 million borrowers

As we work toward our mission, Kiva invests in building and retaining a global team of talent to add to our values-driven and digital-first culture. Our organization is supported by over 700 volunteers and 130+ full time employees dispersed around the world, as well as within team hubs located in San Francisco, Nairobi, Bogota, and Bangkok. Kiva’s team is growing as we pursue exciting new opportunities to scale our impact and create a financially inclusive world.

Kiva's values:

Impact first - This is why we exist. This is the drumbeat we march to. Every day.

Extreme ownership - Own it; you, your relationships, your impact. Insist that others support you and hold you accountable.

Be curious and bold - Never stop learning. Question assumptions. Take Risks and dream big.

Inclusion. Equity. Diversity. - Without reservation and without caveat. In our hiring, in our workplace and in our impact in the world.

Honor and integrity - Do the most right thing in the most right way. Cherish diversity and respect each other.

Love and kindness always - Say what you mean. Mean what you say. And don't say it mean. Clarity. Courage. Kindness.

Role overview:

Kiva has been around for 20 years, and we are in an exciting period of building for growth, combining technology solutions with tried and true nonprofit tactics to reach the populations we serve.

Kiva is looking for a strategic and collaborative Principal Product Manager to help us reach our growth goals. Product managers at Kiva take extreme ownership and roll up their sleeves to step in where help is needed. We understand our users and prioritize impact first. In this role, you will report to the Head of Product. You will identify and evaluate new product opportunities across our B2C and B2B audiences, starting with the high-net-worth individual audience. You will decide what gets built and why, define what success looks like, and stay accountable for results. We are product builders and stay involved from crafting the strategic vision to speaking with users, creating prototypes, defining requirements, evaluating tradeoffs, and measuring results. You’ll work with engineers, designers, marketing, and strategic partnerships, ensuring the team is aligned to execute a shared vision.

At this time, we can only consider applicants with authorization to work in the United States on a permanent, full-time basis; unfortunately, we cannot provide visa sponsorship.

Key responsibilities include:

• Define and drive the vision for your product area, breaking it into a productive action plan that prioritizes impact, results, and speed of learnings
• Emphasize problem discovery and prioritization- know what the most important thing to solve is before diving into solutions
• Leverage internal and market signals to identify which longer-term bets or new product ideas are likely to succeed. Use frameworks and structured thinking to make decisions, even with incomplete information or ambiguity, where the problem or solution is not clear.
• Lead outcome definition for your product and projects. Define KPIs and success metrics.
• Know your customer, be able to run your own qualitative and quantitative research.
• Build relationships inside and outside the product team to anticipate stakeholder needs, and align leadership and cross-functional partners around your product vision
• Partner with engineering to build and execute solutions at quality commensurate to the risk, help shape GTM for significant releases
• Communicate roadmap, vision, results, and tradeoffs across the organization
• Learn and fail fast - know when to iterate, scale, or stop. Help others do the same
• Be able to communicate ideas and prototype with AI to validate ideas or experiment

Preferred qualifications:

• 8-10 years of experience in product management roles, ideally B2C or marketplace, where you have managed a significant product area
• Track record of shipping successful products
• User-centered mindset; empathy for users and instinct for good UX.
• Strong business acumen and a habit of using data to support decisions
• Self-starter and leader. You anticipate second- and third-order effects and decision tradeoffs, and reframe ambiguous or cross-functional problems in ways that reveal better opportunities and align stakeholders around the right problem.
• Nice to have: nonprofit, impact-focused, or philanthropy experience

What we offer:

• A work-from-home position; final candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• An opportunity to improve real lives, solve hard problems, and change the world
• Friendly, supportive, and adventurous environment with a team of engaged colleagues
