Summary The Hershel \"Woody\" Williams VAMC is a fully accredited 80‑bed acute medical and surgical care facility – offering primary care, outpatient mental health services, and subspecialty outpatient care. VA‑staffed community‑based outpatient clinics are in Charleston, West Virginia, and Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Outreach clinics are also located in Gallipolis, Ohio and Lenore, West Virginia. Qualifications United States citizenship (non‑citizens may be appointed only when no qualified citizens can be recruited, in accordance with VA policy). Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a VA‑approved school of medicine or osteopathic medicine. Full, unrestricted state medical or surgical license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification eligibility. Approved residencies include ACGME‑approved programs, AOA‑approved programs, or other non‑U.S. residencies with at least five years of verified U.S. practice. Physicians in residency programs who otherwise meet the basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs); PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may only be employed on a fee‑basis. Practical proficiency in spoken and written English. Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Gastroenterology. Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds and perform other moderate physical tasks as required for patient care. Responsibilities Provide gastroenterology services to Veterans, including diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the digestive system. Perform or assist in related gastroenterology procedures. Collaborate as a member of the Gastroenterology medical team at the Hershel \"Woody\" Williams campus of the Huntington VA Hospital. Attend scheduled meetings and trainings, including visits to community‑based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) when needed. Perform other duties assigned within the department.
