The group practices at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) which is a premier healthcare system based in Orange County, Calif. CHOC is exclusively committed to the health and well‑being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach and research that brings advanced treatment to pediatric patients. The Pediatric Subspecialty Faculty is seeking a board‑certified/eligible pediatric surgeon to join the Division of Pediatric Surgery at Children’s Hospital Orange County and the Department of Surgery at the University of California Irvine. The division is seeking an applicant at the assistant or associate professor level who has a strong interest in trauma/critical care research. Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership for the division’s growing trauma program with a path to becoming the pediatric trauma director in the near future. Share general pediatric surgery patient‑care responsibilities, encompassing the full scope of pediatric surgical services, including minimally invasive surgery, cancer surgery, neonatal surgery, non‑cardiac thoracic surgery, GI surgery, bariatric, oncology and endocrine surgery. Lead and conduct trauma and critical‑care research, supported by a full‑time clinical research coordinator and a PhD‑level biostatistician. Teach medical students, NP/PA students, pediatric residents, and general surgery residents. Collaborate with hospital administration, university leadership, and local trauma partners to connect across levels of the organization. Qualifications Board certified or eligible pediatric surgeon at the assistant or associate professor level. Strong academic and research interest in pediatric trauma and critical care. Eligible for a California medical license. Demonstrated leadership and clinical skills, with a willingness to pursue a leadership role in trauma. Special interest in trauma and proven ability to contribute to scholarly activity that advances surgical research. Ability to teach across multiple trainee levels.
