JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Thoracic Surgery Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Minneapolis, MN Service Setting: Hospital Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: Aug 03, 2026 Ongoing Clinical Shift Schedule: 2 days clinic, 2 days surgery/procedures, 1 flexible day per week (40 hours/week) On-Call Shift Schedule: Overnight and weekend call PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adult Patient Volume/Census: TBD PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Credentialing Timeline: 90-120 days REQUIRED PROCEDURES Provide advanced surgical care for thoracic oncology patients (lung, chest wall, mediastinal, pleural diseases) Minimally invasive thoracic surgery Robotic surgery VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery) Advanced bronchoscopy Endoscopic procedures for lungs and esophagus JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: MN license or Universal License (IMLC) Board: BC in Thoracic Surgery or Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery DEA: Yes Certifications: ACLS, BLS Tier 2 Experience: Minimum 2 years Other Qualifications: Preferred: Completion of Thoracic Oncology Fellowship, 2+ years of trained thoracic or cardiothoracic surgeon with an emphasis in thoracic malignancy, 2+ years of robotic surgical skills DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide advanced surgical care for thoracic oncology patients, including those with lung, chest wall, mediastinal, and pleural diseases Perform a broad range of thoracic procedures: minimally invasive thoracic surgery, robotic surgery, VATS, advanced bronchoscopy, and endoscopic procedures for lungs and esophagus Work clinical schedule: 2 days in clinic, 2 days in surgery/procedures, and 1 flexible day for administrative or surgical overflow Participate in overnight and weekend call coverage shared among the surgeons Collaborate with support staff including PAs, nurse navigator, clinic RNs, and provider coordinator
