Clinical Laboratory Microbiology Medical Director Details ARUP Laboratories, Department of Pathology, University of Utah School of Medicine invites applications from individuals with a strong interest in building an academic career in Clinical Laboratory Microbiology. Applicants should hold an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD degree with board certification or board‑eligibility in Medical Microbiology. ARUP is a comprehensive, high‑complexity reference laboratory that serves a diverse clientele, including university teaching hospitals, children’s hospitals, major commercial laboratories, military and government facilities, and community hospitals. The laboratory receives a wide variety of specimen types and testing requests, offering a broad range of traditional and specialized diagnostic methods. The successful candidate will serve as the Director of Parasitology (Clinical Laboratory Microbiology Medical Director). Primary responsibilities include clinical test result interpretation and reporting; quality control and assurance; laboratory test development; teaching and training of fellows and residents; and committee service. Experience and expertise in advanced molecular diagnostics, antigen detection and/or serologic testing are desirable. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical and academic background appropriate to their level of training and experience, along with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
