Basic Purpose of the Job A qualified physician practicing within the scope of the Tennessee regulations managing medical aspects of patient care through written medical protocols. Job Requirements Minimum Education: MD required. License/Certification: Current DEA and DPS certificate of registration required. Minimum Work Experience: 1 year experience in pediatrics preferred. Knowledge of applying professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Duties and Responsibilities Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs. Diagnose and treat acute, chronic, and long-term health issues. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient problems and healthcare needs. Record physical findings and formulate plans and prognoses based on patient condition. Prescribe or recommend drugs or other treatments such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related procedures. Oversee mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff as assigned. Order studies, tests, and ancillary services. Maintain legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Document all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations in accordance with regulatory standards. Consult with the Medical Director and other staff on patient care, assessment, and education issues as needed. Assist in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients. Refer patients to specialized resources for treatment as appropriate. Order appropriate diagnostic screening tests according to protocol. Approach patients and provide care in a developmentally appropriate manner. Identify, evaluate, and address disease prevention and health promotion issues while providing quality patient care. Educate patients and families about preventive care, immunizations, medical issues, and use of prescribed treatments and medications. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information per federal guidelines and regulations. Collaborate with medical staff and other professionals, sharing knowledge and skills to enhance professional development. Analyze new knowledge from conferences, workshops, literature, or hands-on training and incorporate it into clinical practice. Accept other assignments as requested. Use hospital resources and time responsibly, avoiding misuse, abuse, or waste. Optimize time efficiently and effectively, serving as a role model and resource for others. Record patient charges accurately to support appropriate billing of services.
