Department: Internal Medicine Mission or goal of unit The mission of the Internal Medicine Department, Pulmonary Diseaseand Critical Care Medicine is to provide superior, compassionate,and innovative clinical care to our patients using state-of-the-artknowledge and resources and to conduct and disseminate clinical,research and scholarship, with a focus on the care of patients andeducation of future clinicians. Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission orgoal The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Diseaseand Critical Care Medicine is seeking to recruit and hire aqualified pulmonary and critical care physician interested insupporting the VCU Comprehensive Care Center for PulmonaryHypertension, while expanding critical care and general pulmonologycoverage. Duties & Responsibilities Teaching Although this position has no specific assigned teachingresponsibilities, a successful candidate will be expected tointegrate students and residents into clinical servicesprovided. Research Although this position has no specific assigned researchresponsibilities, reasonable scholarly activities, such aspublications, presentations at national meetings and participationin appropriate academic organizations, are expected. Service Work with institutional staff and administration to attain thestrategic objectives of VCU Medical Center, including patientsafety, patient and other customer satisfaction, maintenance andenhancement of public perception, and fiscal health Serves on institutional committees, study sections, reviewgroups, as a journal editor, or editorial boards Clinical Primary clinical responsibilities will be to provide exemplarycare in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, to includesupport of the VCU Comprehensive Care Center for PulmonaryHypertension, while expanding critical care and general pulmonologycoverage. Outpatient Clinic/Outreach: The successful applicant will assistwith outreach for our general pulmonary and pulmonary hypertensionprograms. Outreach involves expanding the outpatient clinicfootprint of VCU Health and bringing in new patients to the HealthSystem.
