Position Overview Assistant/Associate Professor - Veterinary Pharmacology Director in the Department of Biomedical and Diagnostic Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee. This full-time faculty appointment offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to blend diagnostic service, discovery, and teaching in veterinary pharmacology. Responsibilities Direct and oversee laboratory operations, including a laboratory supervisor, technician, and undergraduate students. Ensure day-to-day laboratory requirements are met accurately and on time. Maintain laboratory facilities, equipment, quality control, and safety protocols. Develop new techniques and analytical methods to meet evolving research needs. Communicate policies, pricing, and laboratory changes to clients. Provide budget oversight for laboratory services, including revenues, fee structures, expenses, and new expenditures. Supervise, manage, and conduct annual evaluations of laboratory staff. Interpret high-performance liquid chromatography results and provide pharmacokinetic interpretations and consultations. Teach in the DVM curriculum, graduate program, and/or continuing education symposia. Engage in scientific advancement and research; a higher research effort is expected for a tenure-track position. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited institution or a relevant PhD. Post-graduate experience and/or a strong documented interest in analytical methodology and clinical veterinary pharmacology. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collegially. Preferred qualifications: Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology or the European College of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology. Position can be offered at the rank of assistant or associate professor on either a tenure or clinical track, depending on qualifications and goals. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
