Job Summary The ER physician is responsible for treating patients who present in the Emergency Room. As part of a care team, the provider will help advance patient care across the district, supervise urgent‑care staff, cover rapid‑response requests, and support improvement initiatives such as ICD‑10 compliance, quality initiatives, and electronic medical record integration. Responsibilities Provide physician services to the district in accordance with the Employment Agreement. Treat assigned panel of patients and provide first‑contact, continuous, comprehensive primary care for all age groups. Perform assessments and examinations on initial encounters with unscheduled, emergency, and new patients. Coordinate treatment plans, consult specialists, and order/interpret diagnostic tests. Collaborate with medical staff to deliver emergency services to all patients in the department. Assist in developing clinical protocols and facilitate problem resolution. Meet or exceed quality care standards, contribute to quality improvement projects, and pursue high patient satisfaction. Plan work independently, develop procedures, and participate in quality improvement systems. Maintain accurate, timely records using a computerized coding system. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state, and local laws. Serve as supervisor for urgent‑care providers and respond to rapid‑response calls in the medical unit. Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned. Adapt to changes, engage and lead others, build working relationships, and create positive experiences for patients, customers, and co‑workers. Participate in ongoing skills training, competency development, and professional development. Demonstrate initiative, adjust to changing circumstances, prioritize workload, and manage time effectively. Facilitate teamwork, welcome new team members, and promote a positive work environment. Maintain open, honest communication, protect privacy, and follow through on commitments. Provide thoughtful input for strategic planning and support departmental strategies. Qualifications Completed an ACGME/AOA accredited Emergency‑Medicine residency with board certification (ABEM or AOBEM) within the past 24 months, or similar accredited residency in family, internal, pediatrics, or general surgery with board certification. Active Washington State MD, DO, or ND license. Board certified or eligible in Emergency, Family, or Internal Medicine. Unrestricted Washington State registered DEA license. Current ACLS, PALS, and ATLS training (directed toward ABEM practitioners) and, if applicable, ultrasound skill certification. Proficiency in current technology and computers, with the ability to learn new programs and equipment. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to employ appropriate strategies for diverse audiences. Ability to cultivate effective partnerships, work collaboratively with providers, clinicians, and patients, and maintain accurate documentation. Demonstrated independent judgment, advanced problem‑solving, critical thinking, and prioritization skills.
