Overview Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) invites applications for a Congenital Heart Surgeon Faculty position in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The role is primarily based at CCHMC, with additional clinical support at partner hospitals such as Akron Children’s Hospital, Golisano Children’s Hospital (UK), Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. The successful candidate will serve as a full faculty member, reporting to the Division Chief and participating in patient care, teaching, and research within the congenital heart surgery laboratory. Responsibilities Provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient care in accordance with the level of surgical specialty and clinical advancement. Perform and supervise congenital heart surgery procedures, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, and postoperative care. Develop and implement innovative approaches and local or regional clinical programs that enhance patient outcomes. Document patient care in appropriate medical records and maintain regulatory compliance. Offer disease‑specific expert consultation and coordinate multi‑disciplinary services for patient care. Formulate, update, and monitor patient‑specific care plans, including treatment and rehabilitation. Collaborate with colleagues to monitor therapeutic management and ensure timely delivery of care. Promote ongoing patient‑care outcomes and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows, ensuring safe and effective patient care. Contribute to curricular development, deliver lectures and bedside teaching, and serve on educational committees. Participate in service and administrative roles, including committee work, performance‑improvement programs, and faculty coverage. Promote teamwork, maintain current knowledge of departmental policies, and support long‑term departmental goals. Engage in scholarly activities: conduct clinical research, publish findings, review manuscripts, and present at internal and external conferences. Assist in securing external funding for research and teaching initiatives. Qualifications Required: MD/DO degree or equivalent; current unrestricted medical license; board certified or eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Congenital Heart Surgery (or international equivalent); successful completion of CCHMC pre‑employment activities (screening, background check, orientation); disclosure of any disciplinary actions by regulatory bodies. Desired: Teaching and training competence in pediatrics for medical students, residents, and fellows; strong oral and written communication skills; experience mentoring underrepresented groups and working with diverse patient populations.
