UAB is a state‑of‑the‑art care medical center located in the vibrant city of Birmingham, Alabama. This position is full‑time and offers tenure‑earning opportunities for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The role provides an active teaching, research, and service environment, with strong collaboration across Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuro‑radiology departments. Faculty members participate in a well‑funded vision research program focusing on retinal, optic nerve, and neurological disease, and engage in a busy neuro‑ophthalmology clinical practice within the tertiary UAB Callahan Eye Hospital. The neuro‑ophthalmology clinic has an established patient base, with a substantial portion of referrals generated internally. It is located in the UAB Callahan Eye Hospital, which performs over 13,000 ocular surgeries per year across 17 operating rooms. UAB is a research university and academic health center that fosters a collaborative culture. The ophthalmology practice is the largest multi‑specialty group in Alabama, seeing over 95,000 annual clinic visits across 12 clinics in multiple counties. Qualifications Completed a Neuro‑Ophthalmology Clinical Fellowship at an accredited program. Completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Pediatric Strabismus Clinical Fellowship at an accredited program. Experience in teaching, research, and service within a clinical academic environment. Strong collaborative skills with interdisciplinary departments.
