Overview The Site Medical Director provides site‑based oversight of medical services delivered by providers in the practice, including MDs, DOs, NPs and PAs. Working collaboratively with the Health Center Regional Manager and other clinic supervisors, the director ensures that clinic operations and medical care are safe, effective, efficient, and continuously improve to meet the needs of the population served while supporting staff professional development. The role participates in shaping overall policies and practices for Multnomah County’s Community Health Center Primary Care and serves on clinic management, Provider Leadership and Primary Care Leadership teams. Key Responsibilities Provide medical services to patients, including evaluation and management of acute and chronic conditions, delivery of preventive health services, coordination of specialty care, case management, and after‑hours triage call. Offer medical consultation to physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other clinical staff. Direct the development and implementation of best clinical practices in assigned areas, setting standards for clinical care and quality‑improvement activities. Supervise on‑site providers, including orientation/onboarding, performance reviews, chart reviews, and clinical quality evaluations. Act as a liaison between providers and management, problem‑solving practice‑management issues and mediating interests. Oversee provider staff scheduling in partnership with the clinic management team and manage clinic access and provider panel size. Work closely with the Primary Care Leadership Team, Medical Director, and Deputy Medical Director to ensure operational performance and clinical quality as measured by clinic dashboards. Qualifications Education: Medical degree, master’s degree in physician‑associate studies, or master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution. Licenses/Certificates: Valid physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or medical board certification with a specialty in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Oregon license to practice as a PA, NP, or MD. BLS/CPR certification and DEA certification are required. Background investigation required; employment contingent upon successful completion. Preferred Qualifications Prior leadership experience. Experience designing, leading, or managing clinical quality‑improvement initiatives. Experience working with refugee or immigrant communities. Five or more years in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or Patient‑Centered Medical Home (PCMH) environment. Demonstrated knowledge of general medicine, surgery, diagnostic and treatment methods, and evidence‑based public health practices. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
