The Cardiologist is a licensed/board‑certified professional who plays a key role as part of the clinical operations team, providing direct patient care and assessments primarily in an ambulatory health‑care center setting. Responsibilities The Cardiologist’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: Diagnosing and treating cardiovascular ailments such as heart attacks and coronary heart disease. Taking medical history, conducting physical exams, developing a plan of care, providing health education, specialty referrals, and case‑management referrals. Providing follow‑up care and documenting patient encounters per ChenMed standards. Participating in clinical rounds, conferences, clinical meetings, and huddles. Providing excellent inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care, coordination, echocardiogram reading, and population management of the market’s members. Providing oversight of PCP cardiovascular skills. Assisting the Medical Director, Cardiology in day‑to‑day clinical and business operations and building relationships with providers and stakeholders across all ChenMed/JenCare/Dedicated Senior Health centers. Consulting to ensure guideline compliance, participating in risk and quality management programs, and advancing clinical value and strategic business objectives. Managing chronic cardiovascular diseases for at least 5,000 patients, supporting the care team and using appropriate tests and treatments. Assessing patient suitability for cardiovascular or other surgeries and collaborating with surgeons or interventional cardiologists. Running and accurately reading EKGs, chest X‑rays, echoes; ordering appropriate tests and ancillary services. Limiting external cardiovascular care when high‑quality internal care can be provided. Prescribing medication and treatment per patient condition, payer coverage, and industry standards. Reviewing PCP requests for external cardiology referrals, participating in utilization authorizations. Assisting in the hiring and training of dedicated cardiology care promoters and NPs/PAs. Coaching and mentoring PCP physicians and other clinicians in cardiology management. Participating in quality and performance initiatives, cost‑reduction strategies, and stakeholder relationship building. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment. Familiarity with standard practices and procedures within the Cardiology field. Superior clinical skills managing seniors with complex medical needs. Exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills. Strong analytical skills and ability to manage for results. Conflict management and resolution experience, with preference for population risk or chronic disease care management. Effective verbal and written communication with proper telephone etiquette. Proficient in electronic medical records and keyboarding. Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationwide up to 15% of the time. Spoken and written fluency in English. Education and Experience Criteria MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or a similar specialty. Board certification in Cardiology; additional sub‑specialty training acceptable. Current, unrestricted, active medical license in the state of employment. Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Cardiologist. Prior experience working with interdisciplinary teams in quality improvement or medical/healthcare leadership activities preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment. Pay Range Salary: $278,575 – $397,963. Final compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education, and geographic location. The position may also qualify for bonuses or commissions.
