POSITION: Beacon Program Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Youth and Community Development Services PROGRAM: Beacon Community Center LOCATION: 145 Stanton Street, New York, NY 10002 WORK SCHEDULE: Summer(35 hours a week): Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm, or 10am - 6pm SALARY RANGE: $20 - $25 an hour, compensation based on job experience. This position is performance based and is also contingent on funding availability. REPORTS TO: Beacon Program Director and Assistant Director DATE: July 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026 JOB SUMMARY: Grand Street Settlement Cornerstone Program Coordinators are responsible for assisting in the overall development, implementation, and supervision of the Beacon Community Center. In addition, there is an expectation of high quality, innovative programming for our elementary participants. As part of our Youth Services Department's vision: all Youth Services Staff will assist in promoting growth, leadership and positive self-image in all young people at all of our Grand Street Settlement sites. The Program Coordinator will promote and develop a safe and engaging environment for youth. This role encompasses supervision, data entry, and youth group facilitation skills. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree Preferred, or at least 3 years youth experienceKnowledge of working with inner city youthHigh level of proficiency in administrative workCapacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projectsKnowledge of the public education system and positive youth development best practicesStrong public speaking, writing and organizational skillsA team player with demonstrated commitment to working with urban youth and young adults from an asset- based perspectiveAbility to set up and maintain work environment that challenges gender stereotypes and is LGBTQIA+ friendlyA background in partnering with the Department of Education and local community based organizations to support programsHave skills in experiential learning and group facilitation with youthMust be an outstanding strategic thinkerMust be flexible, cooperative and willing to work in a team environmentProficiency in Microsoft office suiteProficiency in a variety of internet research and communication functionsExperienced in DYCD programming regulations and DYCD onlineMust obtain NYC Dept. of Health fingerprint clearance and State Central Registry (SCR) clearance ($25 fee)Must have NYS Food Handler's CertificateMust be CPR and Advanced First Aid Certified ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs program outcomes with Assistant Director that reflects the three core components.Assists in the overall management and operations of the elementary & middle school program Page Break Ensure that attendance is taken and entered into the DYCD database accurately & in a timely fashion Tracks attendance and rate of participation.Collects and organizes records, attendance, and educational assessments.Responsible for the enrollment/registration process for all program participants: registration form must have a medical form filled if participants are 13 & younger, ensure that DYCD forms must be filled completely and correctlyRecruits participants in order to ensure enrollment and registration targets are met.Supervise staff and ensure that they provide engaging activities, supervise educational coordinator to ensure that the academic component is met.Ensures that the goals and objectives of the program are met by the deadlines (targeted middle school: 25 participants & total participant hours 200), 100 elementary school participantsConducts periodic assessments and evaluations and assists in curricula and programmatic refinement (i.e. pre/post surveys/tests).Have parent orientations and monthly parent meetingsCoordinates schedules and tripsRemains in regular contact with all local school's faculty, staff, and participants' parentsDevelops educational materials and prepares and facilitates workshops in youth relevant topic areasEnsures documentation and tracking as needed and submits required reports in a timely mannerPerforms other programmatic/administrative duties as assignedAttains two new partnerships that are in line with the core components and maximizes program outcomes.Come ready to work with positive attitudePerform other duties as assigned by the program supervisors HOW TO APPLY: Please submit a resume and thoughtful cover letter, outlining how your skills and experience meet the qualifications of the position you are applying for.
