Emergency Department Nurse Manager The Emergency Department Nurse Manager provides leadership in the provision of nursing services and triaging patient care. The manager has 24‑hour responsibility and serves as the liaison between nursing staff and the Director of Emergency Services. Responsibilities Develop, incorporate, and maintain clinical practice standards defined by the Nursing Division. Lead and manage Emergency Department nursing operations. Implement and evaluate the quality of nursing care to patients and families. Participate in unit‑based CQI activities and assist staff in monitoring quality indicators. Act as a primary resource to the care management team and other clinical leaders for triage, transfers, and discharges. Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide patient care. Promote interdisciplinary collaboration for effective management of patient care. Provide orientation, in‑service education, and continuing education for staff with the Nurse Educator. Oversee performance reviews, recruitment, hiring, and coaching for development. Develop staffing strategies and long‑term plans to optimize patient care. Identify equipment needs and assist with budgeting for future capital items. Participate in committees, task forces, and interdisciplinary forums focused on patient care. Assist with patient care in imaging departments as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a minimum of 6 years Emergency Department clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Credentials Current license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. ACLS, BLS & PALS certifications. Preferred Credentials and Education Master’s degree in nursing. Certificate in CEN (Continuing Education in Nursing) strongly preferred. Training in Performance Improvement, Total Quality Management, and/or Continuous Quality Improvement. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to manage allocated expense budgets. Ability to make formal presentations on clinical, operational, educational, research, and financial topics. Strong problem‑solving and collaborative teamwork skills. Knowledge of Emergency Nursing practices. Compensation Range : $118,500.00 – $172,000.00 (based on minimum qualifications and a comprehensive assessment of education, experience, skills, and certifications).
