What You’ll Be Doing As a Cardiology, Field Medical Director you will be a key member of the utilization management team. This role offers a meaningful way to make a difference in patients’ lives in a non‑clinical environment, with a focus on better work‑life balance, collaboration, continuous learning, and improved health outcomes. Responsibilities Serve as the specialty match reviewer for Cardiology cases that do not initially meet applicable medical necessity guidelines and provide clinical rationale for standard and expedited appeals. Discuss determinations (peer‑to‑peer phone calls) with requesting physicians or ordering providers within the regulatory timeframe. Utilize medical/clinical review guidelines and parameters to ensure consistency in the MD review process and compliance with Evolent’s policies, URAC, and NCQA guidelines. Document all communications with medical office staff and/or MD providers in a timely and accurate manner. Participate in ongoing training per inter‑rater reliability processes. Assist the Senior Medical Director with research activities and questions related to the Utilization Management process, interpretation, guidelines, and/or system support. On a requested basis, act as Medical Director for selecting health plans or regions, assuming overall accountability for utilization management while working with the Senior Medical Director. Qualifications — Required MD/DO/MBBS Degree Current, unrestricted clinical license in medicine or the required specialty, with active licensure in the state of residence and any additional states required by business needs. Active Board Certification in Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, or Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills. Energetic and curious with a passion for quality and value in health care. Computer proficiency. Not currently under exclusion or sanction by any state or federal health‑care program, including Medicare or Medicaid, and not identified as an excluded person by the Office of Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services or the GSA, or reprimanded or sanctioned by Medicare. No history of major disciplinary or legal action by a state medical board. Qualifications — Preferred Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the practice of Cardiology. Technical Requirements Home internet speed of at least 10Mbps. For call‑center employees, the ability to plug directly into the home internet router. Compensation Salary range: $120–$135 per hour. Total compensation may vary above and below the stated range based on skills and experience. Benefits Comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, are offered to qualifying employees.
