Position Title: Health / Mental Health / Disability Director Employment Status: Full-time Titles of Position Supervised: None Major Objectives: Responsible to Coordinate and oversee the management and implementation of program activities associated with Performance Standards 1302 — Subpart D — Health Program Services and Subpart F — Additional Services for Children with Disabilities Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with Health, Mental Health, and Disability requirements of regulatory entities including: Designing and updating systems to document the implementation of the Head Start Program Performance Standards and Arkansas Minimum Licensing Requirements Coordinating with team members to ensure timely completion and documentation of services Assume responsibility for primary health care at the HS/EHS Program. Monitor immunization, physicals, dentals, hematocrits, lead screening, and any other required screenings for compliance status of children. Schedule health and dental examinations with contracted physicians and dentists if needed. Make sure any recommended follow-up appointments from the doctor or dentist are scheduled and documented. Coordinate with Family Service Workers to arrange for transportation of children to and from appointments if necessary. Coordinate services with federal, state, and local health resources. (i.e., Flu shots, Eye exams, BMI screenings, etc.) o Provide first aid care and follow-up. Make any needed health referrals and follow-up. Ensure that all medications are properly accepted, stored, administered, and documented. Ensure the maintenance of all Emergency Kits and Emergency Response Supplies Input information into the computer to monitor each child’s health services. Maintain materials and supplies for health, mental health, and disabilities services. Assist the education staff in implementing health and safety, dental, health, and mental health activities in the classroom. Organize monthly fire, tornado, and disaster drills and ensure that all records are kept up to date at all centers. Monitor to ensure that emergency cards and cot, toy, and toothbrush cleaning checklists are accurate and up to date in each classroom. Provide required health, mental health, and disability trainings for parents. Assume responsibility for the Mental Health Services at the HS/EHS Program. Coordinate with the Mental Health Consultant to ensure Mental Health Requirements are met. Respond to, evaluate, and document instances of children’s behavioral problems when they endanger themselves or others or you receive a referral. Coordinate meetings with parents, staff, and the Mental Health Consultant when necessary. Follow-up and document any mental health referrals and mental health services. Assume responsibility for Disability Services at the HS/EHS Program. Ensure that 10% of the enrollment is comprised of children with disabilities with an IEP or IFSP. Confer with parents and agency staff during orientation concerning any special needs, including diagnosis/treatment and supervision for the appropriate referral process. Make sure proper parental consent procedures are followed. Coordinate and document the screenings of all children to identify any special needs, participate in any meetings if additional testing is necessary, and make sure proper and timely testing and evaluation procedures are followed and documented. Ensure that an IEP or IFSP is developed for disabled children with the multidisciplinary team consisting of parents, staff, the LEA, and professionals. Coordinate services with federal, state, and local disabilities resources. Monitor disabilities services to ensure IEPs and IFSPs are followed. o Document each child’s disabilities services. Other duties as assigned.
