Employer: University of Chicago Medicine Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States (onsite) Schedule: Full-time Focus: Gastroenterologist Responsibilities Review patient histories, perform physical exams, and make diagnoses regarding patient’s gastrointestinal tract Create and explain treatment plans; treatment may include prescribing medications, counseling patients on diet changes, or performing endoscopic procedures Interpret results of diagnostic tests and biopsies Observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and physicians Refer patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as appropriate Direct and coordinate the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required Maintain knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care Understand and prescribe relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids, instructing patients in correct usage Maintain knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements Know current principles, methods and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the area of expertise Work both independently and in a team environment Show effective verbal and written communication skills Qualifications Medical license in Illinois Board certified or board eligible in a specified area of medical specialty Experience of 3-5 years preferred Completed a U.S. residency program Opportunity Highlights Competitive compensation package, including a 2‑year base guarantee with upside potential Exceptional benefits: medical, dental, retirement, time off, and CME allowance Monday‑Friday practice including one evening per week Dedicated medical assistant and registered nurse staffing support Contact Tony NazarioEmail: UChicago Medicine is an equal‑opportunity employer.
