ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This position is responsible to help insure the safety and productivity of all employees assigned to the CNC department. Additionally, the CNC Lead position is accountable for filling in when the CNC supervisor or Programmer is not available. Manufacturing employees must comply with company Safety and Security policies including use of Personal Protective EquipmentCoordinates with Supervisor and Programmer to insure jobs are setup and runningReads blueprint or job order for product and job specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be run, tooling instructions or other written specificationsSets up machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample work pieces to ensure machining conforms to specificationsHelps other machinist perform and trouble shoot setups and insure they are running efficientlyProcesses First Article Inspections and verifies conformance to quality standards prior to production runsAccurately completes work order paperwork/documentationEnsure that work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly manner at all times.Assist in training new hire personnel in setup procedures, measurement equipment, production expectations and specifications.Operate equipment/machines as neededAssist Production Supervisors in daily activitiesLead shift with minimal to no supervision requiredRecognize and identify problem areas and assist with developing solutionsIssue and release work orders Assist production supervisors in daily activities while setting the example for all other employees Leads and directs all aspects of the CNC department when supervisor is unavailable Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.Report injuries, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions to a Supervisor or Manager immediately.Perform other and/or related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates. EXPERIENCE 2-5 years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment; 2-5 years supervisory experience preferred; 5 years' experience in basic programming, editing, setup and operation of CNC machines for precision parts with experience on Doosan, Okuma or Swiss machines with Fanuc controls preferred; able to setup and edit the G-Code for each part, as well as edit the program, check parts, deburr parts, perform offsets, etc. preferred; Mastercam and/or Solidworks experience a plus SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Associate's degree in a technical discipline or Bachelor Degree preferredAbility to pass a basic reading, math, measurement, parts matching and counting testAble to read, understand, interpret and follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing specificationsAbility to adjust to changes without compromising Quality or PerformanceMust be able to work a shift schedule and overtime as needed, including weekends PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to stand for the duration of scheduled shift Ability to manually load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, platforms up to weighing 25-150 lbs Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, lift, and hammer WORK ENVIRONMENT Manufacturing and warehouse environment with multi step process production runs on different machines.
