Position Overview United Health Services (UHS) is seeking an experienced physician assistant (PA) to join our growing cardiothoracic surgery service line. Position located at United Health Services Hospitals Wilson Square, Heart & Vascular Institute. Shift: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a post call day off during the week; 1 in 3 calls shared with other PAs. After operating room cases, provide Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) coverage with 2 other dedicated CVICU PAs. Responsibilities Coordinate patient care. Counsel patients about concerns under the direction of supervising physician(s). Round on patients admitted to the hospital and review care plans with nursing staff as established by physicians. Assist in the operating room; possess vein harvest experience. Perform physical assessments on patients and complete patient histories. Complete discharge summaries. Order medications, treatments, labs, etc. Be available for call on patient conditions according to the pre-established schedule, including holiday responsibilities. Perform other duties as determined by supervising physician(s). Education and Skills Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA). Current licensure as a PA in the state of New York. Completion of an accredited PA program. Master of Science in Physician Assistant related field. Good verbal and written communication skills. Experience in a focused, collaborative cardiothoracic surgical environment (e.g., ECMO, IABP, Impella, TAVR, minimally invasive valve program, CABG, thoracic and foregut surgery).
