Summary: Administers, directs, and coordinates activities of patient care within Maternity and Newborn service areas. Responsible for recommending, developing, and implementing policies and procedures in these areas, and keeping the CNO informed of progress and potential problems. Oversees patient care delivery, maintains operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with other service areas, and ensures interdepartmental quality controls. Facilitates departmental participation in performance improvement within the Maternity units and hospital-wide. Education/Certificates/Licenses: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; baccalaureate degree, Masters preferred. Currently licensed as a professional nurse in the state. 5+ years of Acute Hospital Clinical Nursing experience required. Three to five years of management experience in the area of specialty. BLS/ACLS or other certification in the specialty area required. Qualifications Does this describe you? Willing to consider candidates with less than 5 years of experience if they are exceptionally strong. Must have Maternal Child experience, not just L&D. Strong Mother-Baby postpartum experience. Must currently be a director or above. Experience from a mid-size to large union hospital is required. Candidates with leadership training such as Six Sigma, Lean, etc., that provides significant learning opportunities are preferred. Looking for someone proactive, experienced in budgeting, service line growth, and daily department functions.
