POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for the ongoing nurture of the spiritual needs of The Lutheran Community at Telford Residents through one-on-one visitation, group activities, worship services and working on teams with other personnel and church pastors. The individual will lead the efforts to provide a spiritual presence while promoting spiritual growth for all residents. Position Job Description Provide spiritual service and crisis counseling to the residents, families, and employees of the community. Oversee the scheduling of the Chapel and worship services in conjunction with the Activities Director & Life Enrichment Director. Coordinate and encourage clergy and pastoral visitors from the community. Supervise the pastoral volunteers to support regular worship and bible study opportunities. Develop, in conjunction with Life Enrichment and Activities Departments, educational opportunities and excursions that encourage residents to explore their spiritual foundations. Visit new residents shortly after admission into the community and record a spiritual assessment. Attend care plan meeting for skilled residents at both communities. Visit with the supporting Lutheran churches and provide outreach services based upon their need. Plan and lead worship services for special occasions, such as mid‑week Advent/Lent services, Easter Sunday, funerals, annual service of remembrance, etc. Visit hospitalized residents. Prepare the department’s annual budget request and monitor monthly to department financial statements. Attend meetings and in‑services as required. Position Requirements Education: Master of Divinity or the equivalent and at least four units of Clinical Pastoral Education Experience: Three to five years pastoral care; chaplaincy experience preferred Professional Membership, Licensures, Certifications: Adjudicatory endorsement. Valid PA driver’s license. Language Ability: Ability to relate to people effectively with sensitivity, understanding and compassion. Maintain an open door policy for residents, families and staff to address questions and concerns without feeling uncomfortable. A high degree of confidentiality is required. Math Ability: Basic math capabilities including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Reasoning Ability: Ability to set priorities, plan and organize duties. Detail oriented and possesses sound judgment to moderate meetings and maintain accurate files. Ability to document and follow up on resident needs. Maintain an awareness, interest and motivation for the care of seniors. Maintain the resident and employee’s right to confidentiality. Computer Skills: Basic computer abilities utilizing word processing software.
