Family Physician 0.25-1.0 FTE – Norway House Hospital Hourly Range: $237.32 On-call stipend, Meal per Diem and Additional Hours Site Description: Norway House Cree Nation: 812 kilometers north of Winnipeg Population: Over 8,000 Physicians deploy from Winnipeg to community sites through chartered aircraft, Monday through Friday on rotational time frames. Year‑round road access, approximately 9 hours’ drive each way. The Norway House Ferry is used to cross the Nelson Channel. In‑province travel and accommodations covered by organization. Possibly to travel with your family with 8 weeks’ notice; family travel expenses is the responsibility of the contractor. Out‑of‑province travel paid with physicians holding 0.25 FTE (5–7 days monthly) or higher. Out‑of‑province travel paid for locum providers with a commitment of 2 consecutive weeks (12 days). Qualifications: Must hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, or be eligible for licensure. Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) Certifications: Must have current Advanced Life Support (ACLS) Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) (within 6 months of hire) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 6 months of hire) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (within 6 months of hire) Indigenous cultural awareness course (within 6 months of hire) Manitoba Opioid Antagonist Therapy (OAT) course or equivalent is encouraged Skills/Abilities Strong health assessment and clinical skills are required Excellent leadership, critical thinking and collaborative interpersonal skills Must be self‑motivated and able to work independently, working as a member of a health care team alongside extended practice nurses, paramedics and other allied professionals Must demonstrate an appreciation of Indigenous worldviews, cultures and be sensitive in providing anti‑racist, trauma‑informed care. Must be able to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible. Must possess a dependable, consistent and reliable work record, including attendance at work.
