Learn more at The Opportunity The Covering Medical Director provides clinical leadership and oversight when the Medical Director for the Center for Healing (CFH), a NYS OASAS 822 Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) transitioning to a Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (COT) model, is unavailable. The position ensures excellence in patient care, supervision of advanced practice providers and physicians and compliance with all regulatory standards. The Covering Medical Director supervises all medical staff—including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and the Nursing Supervisor—during periods of absence of the medical director. Coverage will most commonly be remote via phone, but onsite coverage may be requested. Responsibilities Lead and supervise medical staff when the need for medical director activities are required, including oversight of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and the nursing supervisor during periods of absence of the medical director. Ensure all medical and psychiatric services provided meet OASAS, DOHMH standards Oversee and participate in diagnostic assessments, prescribing, medication management, and continuity of psychiatric care. Ensure medical team provides clinical consultation to staff on complex treatment plans and cases. Be available by phone 24/7 for consultation by medical providers and administrators What You’ll Bring Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution Licensed to practice in New York State Minimum of 1 year of substance use treatment or behavioral health experience Knowledge of regulatory requirements of Opioid Treatment Programs Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry board certification or eligibility preferred Proficiency in EHR systems Location: Hybrid, On-site work is done at 190 Mercer Street, 4 th Floor, New York, NY 10012 Schedule: As needed with minimum of 28 days annually FLSA Classification: Exempt Reports To: Medical Director Union Representation: Non-Union Salary Range The expected hourly rate for this position is $200 per 24 hours for availability by phone. If time required to manage clinical or administrative task exceeds one hour, a rate of $200/hour applies for additional time. This range reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of this posting and may be adjusted based on experience, education, and organizational needs.
