Position Overview Location: BBC Bronson Battle Creek. Title: APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) at Bronson Family Medicine – Marshall. This is a hospital‑employed, full‑time outpatient position. Position Highlights Work alongside one physician and two APPs. No OB or inpatient medicine responsibilities. Team approach with ambulatory care manager, clinical pharmacy support, social worker, and nurse triage. Responsibilities Collaborate with the physician to deliver patient‑ and family‑centered services. Establish medical diagnoses for common short‑term and chronic stable health problems; order and evaluate diagnostic studies; perform and monitor therapeutic procedures (sutures, incision and drainage, IVs, casting & splinting). Manage follow‑up plans. Prescribe and regulate medications per physician‑agreed protocols. Record and document health appraisal data to coordinate and expedite required services and meet clinic policy. Assume responsibility and accountability for time management, cost outcomes, professional relationships, and interpersonal interactions. Act as a resource to health‑care staff and develop/implement education programs to improve patient/family management. Develop, conduct, and evaluate formal or informal in‑service and continuing education programs in areas of expertise. Maintain and enhance professional knowledge and meet continuing education requirements for licensure. Support research by defining clinical research questions, participating in research, and incorporating findings into practice. Collaborate with the physician to provide appropriate plans of care. Refer patients to appropriate physicians and community resources for consultations (e.g., therapy, specialists, social resources). Provide emergency care within ACLS and/or BLS guidelines. Participate actively in continuing education, professional memberships, and community outreach to enhance the NP role and nursing image. Observe state regulations and professional ethics applicable to advanced nursing practice. Participate in the development and annual review of clinic written policies, procedures, and protocols. Engage in process improvement activities appropriate to the practice environment. Contribute to an environment conducive to professional education of colleagues. Maintain and promote patient confidentiality and protect patient autonomy, dignity, and rights. Act as a client advocate and promote quality nursing care through research, standard setting, peer review, and education opportunities. Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Maintain privileged access to the unit medication room(s) for stocking and/or retrieving supplies. Provide outstanding customer service reflective of mission, values, and standards. Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, and ensure adherence. Maintain a safe workplace by keeping work area free of hazards and reporting safety hazards. Use correct body positioning and mechanics to avoid injury; use personal protective equipment when necessary. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. Current unrestricted or pending licensure in the state of Michigan. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to providing compassionate, quality, patient‑centered care. Master’s degree (MSN or MS in Nursing) and at least 2 years of recent clinical experience related to the area of practice. Previous teaching experience preferred. Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan. Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse in a specialty area of practice. Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges. Must be able to operate basic computer programs for documentation and record keeping. Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills applicable to multiple group interactions.
