RN Service Line Director - Med Surg Accountable for the 24-hour operations of the assigned Med Surg service lines, including clinical care delivery, associate leadership, fiscal stewardship, and strategic direction. Provides oversight for major initiatives, partners with physicians and care team members, and fosters a positive clinical and associate work environment. Responsibilities Clinical Operations Develop and implement a shared vision and strategic direction for the service line in collaboration with physician partners. Build relationships with physicians and other providers to enhance alignment and collaboration. Ensure delivery of effective patient care through staff associates. Lead development and implementation of strategies for improved care and safety of patients, using data to inform decisions. Participate in the development and implementation of improvement solutions, establishing and tracking metrics. Advance technology and innovation to drive excellence within the service line. Incorporate standardized processes and protocols to maximize service line success. Associate Management Hire, coach, develop, and evaluate associates. Coordinate with Clinical Directors and Patient Care Coordinators to ensure effective staffing and deployment of the care delivery system. Provide coaching, feedback, and create positive work environments. Accountable for associate retention and engagement outcomes. Ensure efficient use of human resources and facilitate education and development opportunities. Fiscal Management Develop human, operating, and capital budgets for the service line. Deploy fiscal plan and manage variances, initiating appropriate corrective actions. Utilize data and outcome information to inform financial decisions. Environmental & General Management Ensure readiness for accreditation and regulatory requirements. Maintain physical facilities and patient care equipment. Lead technology implementation and other assigned projects. Education & Training Requirements Master’s Degree in Nursing (preferred); Doctorate in Nursing (preferred). Work Experience Requirements Leadership experience of 7-9 years. Licenses & Certifications Registered Nurse, Tennessee; licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing. BASIC LIFE SUPPORT, American Heart Association. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements for academic medical centers. Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to think strategically and manage change to achieve quality, safety, and service objectives. Clinical expertise in care of CV patients. Data literacy: interpret reports, analyze information, draw conclusions, and develop plans. Professional collaboration, facilitation, and influence skills. Negotiation skills with associates, managers, and physicians. Leadership and motivation skills to achieve work and organizational goals. Physical Demands Climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, repetitive motion. Easily exerting up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently. Good visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision; required for patient assessment, data analysis, transcribing, and computer work.
