The work is performed under the direction of the Administrator – Edgewater Haven. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintains current knowledge of federal and state nursing home regulations to ensure facility compliance. Ensures regulatory compliance using the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) process and implements systematic changes for process improvement. Supervises nursing personnel, assigns duties, and monitors quality of nursing care. Maintains on‑call status for the nursing department to provide clinical guidance and staff support. Participates in continuing education: attends workshops, seminars, and conferences; researches and evaluates monthly periodicals, textbooks, and community resources to determine clinical trends in nursing home care. Assesses clinical competencies of staff using clinical best practices and communicates appropriately with licensed nursing staff regarding clinical skill development. Reviews and analyzes medical information on potential residents to determine admission appropriateness and consults with the Administrator on alternate plans or approvals. Interviews, hires, evaluates, disciplines, and discharges all nursing personnel; assigns orientation and duties. Schedules nursing personnel with the Nursing Secretary, approves time off, and informs payroll of staffing changes. Receives and reviews investigations of injuries, complaints, and conflicts per Human Services procedures; documents actions taken. Analyzes regulatory, medical, and nursing changes, develops and updates policies and procedures, and informs staff of policy changes with necessary training. Maintains nursing department policies and procedures; communicates updates to staff. Completes forms, reports, and correspondence to the Division of Quality Assurance regarding care quality, billing, and staffing to comply with regulations. Reviews medical records for care standards compliance, staffing levels, accuracy, completeness, and care provided. Identifies efficiencies within the nursing department to enable licensed staff to provide quality care; promotes use of the electronic medical record system. Observes and analyzes all aspects of nursing department activity. Directs, assigns, and arranges nursing staff and interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate, train, revise, develop, problem‑solve, and implement care. Proposes personnel policy changes and recommends them to the Administrator and Human Resources. Submits proposed purchases and budget changes; prices and determines nursing supply purchases; reviews billing invoices and approves payment. Reviews nursing hours, costs, and overtime to ensure expenses remain within budget. Reviews student applications and conducts interviews for educational sponsorship opportunities. Oversees payroll for nursing staff; clarifies time‑card entries; approves sick pay, overtime, call‑in, premium pay, etc. Organizes and analyzes data and metrics for QAPI and develops Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as needed with the interdisciplinary team. Works collaboratively with Norwood Health Center to increase efficiencies between Edgewater Haven and Norwood Health Center. Demonstrates a strong commitment to developing positive rapport with all employees and the Human Services Department. Attends Human Services All Staff and Departmental meetings. Remains knowledgeable of and practices the Safety policies of the County, performing all job tasks safely and as prescribed. Familiarizes with and exemplifies Wood County Core Values and the Wood County Code of Conduct, serving with courtesy and respect. Additional Tasks and Responsibilities Assists with staffing coordination and contacts nursing staff to ensure adequate staffing coverage. Performs RN duties and responsibilities as needed to support resident care and departmental operations. Provides leadership, in‑service education, and training to nursing staff in the absence of the In‑Service Coordinator. Oversees and participates in RN care planning processes and demonstrates understanding of the MDS process. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience in a long‑term care setting, including at least two (2) years of nursing supervisory or management experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
