Teachers may work one‑on‑one with special needs students, requiring additional skills in supporting the physical needs of such students. Tasks include helping students learn subject matter and skills, creating a conducive learning environment, protecting students and facilities, implementing policies, setting behavior standards, guiding learning toward curriculum goals, diagnosing learning disabilities with district specialists, evaluating academic and social growth, keeping records, and being available to students and parents outside instructional time. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teach district‑approved curriculum. Meet and instruct assigned classes at the designated locations and times. Plan a program of study using varied instructional techniques and media to meet individual student needs, interests, and abilities. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist administration in implementing policies and rules. Encourage students to set and maintain classroom behavior standards. Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives and communicating them. Assist in diagnosing learning disabilities with district specialists. Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep records, and prepare progress reports. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy. Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours. Qualifications and Requirements Communication Skills: Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Compose routine reports. Present information effectively and respond to questions from administrators, staff, and the public. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Language Skills: Read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Write reports and correspondence. Present information to managers, clients, customers, and the public. Mathematical Skills: Work with probability and statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry. Apply fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems, handle variable situations, interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms. Computer Skills: Basic computer operation and software familiarity; learn operations for student information management and technology integration.
