Miami Cancer Institute (MCI) , a nationally recognized “clinical academic” cancer center, is seeking a physician leader to build and guide a system-wide cancer prevention program. MCI is the flagship of Baptist Health Cancer Care (BHCC) , the cancer service line of Baptist Health South Florida —an 11-hospital system and one of the most successful health systems in the country. Ranked in the top 10% of cancer programs nationally by U.S. News & World Report , MCI brings together a subspecialized faculty of more than 130 cancer physicians. For every major tumor type—common and rare—patients have access to coordinated care from surgical, medical, and radiation oncologists. Nearly 2,000 patients receive care across the Institute each day. And the system sees more new cancer patients annually than all other facilities in the state of Florida, save for AdventHealth, a system with more than 20 hospitals in central Florida. Cancer prevention is a major initiative. A dedicated Breast Cancer Prevention Program is already underway, led by Dr. Mehran Habibi, MCI’s Chief of Breast Surgery. This search focuses on expanding prevention efforts across all other disease sites, with particular attention to gastrointestinal cancers. The ideal candidate is a physician (medical geneticist, gastroenterologist, or other specialist) with a passion for cancer prevention and a knowledge of germline mutation and other risk factors for common and rare cancers. Responsibilities Develop and implement a BHCC-wide prevention strategy (excluding breast cancer) at multiple facilities that comprise BHCC. Establish clinical pathways for high-risk patients and their families. Build, mentor, and oversee a team of advanced practice providers to operationalize this program. Customize one’s own clinical engagement to align with professional goals. Engagement in academic and research initiatives is desired, and will be robustly supported. The role is based at MCI in Miami and includes leadership oversight across BHCC sites throughout South Florida. This is an opportunity to shape a comprehensive prevention program within a well-resourced, academically oriented cancer program within a thriving and growing health care system. #J-18808-Ljbffr
