At the moment we are in URGENT need of a Optometrist to take on a Part‑Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Wasco, CA . Position Details 10 Hours per week Location: Wasco, CA Schedule: 1 day a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday) 7:00am‑5:00pm Rate: $110/hr ($1,100/week) Must be licensed by the California State Board of Optometry. Job Description Under the direction of the Institution/Facility designee, the Temporary/Relief Optometrist shall provide services as permitted within the scope of practice of the Optometrist and in accordance with Institution/Facility policies and procedures. Ensures that all ordered Optometry services will be scheduled consistent with the Optometry need; once scheduled, services are delivered at the time scheduled unless unavoidable circumstances occur. Provides examination, diagnosis, treatment, prescription information, and simple repairs only, in accordance with Business and Professions Code §3041 et al. Referred patient/youth to physicians and/or healthcare facilities upon approval of the Institution/Facility designee for consultation, diagnosis, treatment(s), and/or surgery; medical/surgical emergencies where contract provider(s) are not immediately available are exempt. Maintains continuity of all work performed from start to finish. Provides optometry visual services and diagnoses and treatment for specific conditions, including allergies, infectious diseases, and non‑systematic inflammations of the conjunctiva, using diagnostic agents and topical products such as miotics, lubricants, non‑steroidal anti‑allergy agents, non‑steroidal anti‑inflamatory agents, antibiotic agents, and hyperosmotics, in accordance with Chapter 7 of the Business and Professional Code and National Standards.
