Department: Clinical Sciences Salary: Commensurate with experience Description: The University of Houston Tillman J Fertitta Family College of Medicine (UHCOM) at the University of Houston announces an open‑tenure track, open rank Clinical Faculty Physician position that will provide direct patient care, with a specialty in Obstetrics/Gynecology. This position will report directly to the Chairperson of the Clinical Sciences. Responsibilities Medical Education Serve as co-course director for the pre‑clerkship reproductive/endocrine organ system course. Serve as a facilitator in the pre‑clerkship physicians, patients, and population course. Serve as a small group facilitator for pre‑clerkship courses during Phase 1 of our curriculum. Contribute to the Integrated Clinical Cases within the Basic Science phase of the pre‑clerkship curriculum and contribute to other courses, as needed, for reproductive‑related health topics. In collaboration with the Ob/Gyn clerkship director, design and deliver educational Ob/Gyn clinical content for the academic half‑day of the longitudinal integrated clerkship. Provide mentorship and career advising for medical students pursuing an Ob/Gyn residency. Clinical Services Evaluate and treat patients with ambulatory obstetrical conditions such as normal intrauterine pregnancy and gestational diabetes at the UH Family Care Center. Provide contraceptive counseling and insertion of long‑acting reversible contraceptive devices. Manage ambulatory gynecological conditions such as abnormal uterine bleeding and abnormal pap smears. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives at the UH Family Care Center. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Medical degree from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic college of medicine. Board certification or board eligibility in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Medical licensure or the ability to obtain licensure in the State of Texas. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning, including active and applied learning modalities. Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to inform decision‑making. Preferred Qualifications Five years of experience providing clinical care in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Experience, interest, and demonstrated abilities teaching medical students. Familiarity with accreditation standards for medical education (e.g., LCME, ACGME). Official transcripts are required for faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidate. Physician applicants must possess an unrestricted Texas Medical License and board certification in their specialty. While exceptions may be considered, approval must be obtained from the Vice Dean of Education and/or the Dean of the College of Medicine and the Office of the Provost.
