Position Overview Part‑Time Emergency Veterinarian with predictable hours and a consistent home hospital assignment. This role allows you to stay clinically engaged while maintaining balance, connection, and continuity of care. Location: Taylor Veterinary Emergency Hospital, Turlock, California. The 8,500 sq. ft. facility includes state‑of‑the‑art equipment such as a Snyder O2 unit, digital & portable x‑ray, rigid/endoscope, two full ORs, five exam rooms, a skills lab, ultrasounds, and a renovated Idexx laboratory. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient examinations and medical work‑ups. Communicate with and educate clients. Execute diagnostic procedures and surgery. Maintain accurate medical records. Handle pharmacy duties, including prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols. Promote teamwork and staff efficiency. Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations. Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations from intake to discharge. Attend daily rounds when possible to ensure high standards are upheld. Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels. Perform other duties as assigned by Management. Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution. Current State Veterinary License. DEA registration (to be obtained and maintained). 1+ years of experience in emergency practice. Strong diagnostic and clinical skills. Excellent surgical and dental skills. Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality veterinary care. Effective communication with all members of the medical and hospital staff. Client communication skills, including rapport building and clear explanations. Confidence and reassurance when dealing with stressed, ill, or painful pets. Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Clinical knowledge of cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological and other examinations; diagnosing and prescribing appropriate treatments. Problem‑solving skills for high‑quality hospital management. Effective communication of diagnostics and treatments to clients and staff. Professionalism with constructive feedback. Business acumen related to practice management and finances. Ethical decision making with patients. Commitment to continuing education and facilitating learning.
