Medical Director, Office of Wellbeing (College of Medicine - Phoenix) Posting Number: req26071 Location: Greater Phoenix Area, 475 North 5th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004 USA The Office of Undergraduate Medical Education is hiring a medical director for the Office of Wellbeing, which also intersects with the Office of Graduate Medical Education. This role supports the wellness needs of medical students, residents, and fellows at the College of Medicine – Phoenix. The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in an appropriate department, actively participate in teaching and/or scholarly work, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of full professor. This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure. Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with the associate dean of Educational Affairs, associate dean of Student Affairs, and other UME units. Oversee the counseling service program faculty and staff, including health promotions specialists. Provide individual 1:1 counseling sessions to student clients (e.g., half‑day per week) once counseling licensure is obtained. Expand vision and growth for the counseling, coaching, and mentoring program at the college. Facilitate curricular elements encompassing professional identity formation and physician & organizational wellbeing. Oversee the medical‑student disability program implementation in collaboration with the U of A Disability Office and UME deans. Contribute expertise through lectures and small‑group discussions in quality, safety, and healthcare management education in UME. Work with the vice dean of GME and health promotion specialist to connect GME with the department and UME wellbeing vision. Review, develop, and implement strategies, initiatives, and programs to foster the individual health of GME trainees. Represent GME on the Banner Cultivating Happiness in Medicine Executive Steering Committee and Academic Wellbeing Collaborative. Chair the GME Collegial Training Environment group and serve on the UME/GME Mistreatment Taskforce. Provide feedback to enhance the GME crisis plan, mental health services, and Collegial Training Environment Subcommittee. Serve as liaison for GHHS events and humanism‑related events at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix and the community. Review data related to mistreatment, GME feedback, and institutional and ACGME surveys to support continuous improvement. Minimum Qualifications MD or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution. Counseling degree, or in the process of obtaining one. Board-certified in primary specialty.
