Pain Management Physician Assistant Position Summary The Pain Management Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic pain conditions. Working collaboratively with pain management physicians and the multidisciplinary care team, the PA evaluates patients, develops treatment plans, assists with procedures, and supports ongoing pain management across outpatient and procedural settings. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive pain assessments, including medical history and physical examinationsEvaluate and manage patients with acute, chronic, and complex pain conditionsDevelop and implement individualized pain management treatment plans under physician supervisionAssist with interventional pain procedures as appropriate (e.g., injections, nerve blocks, ablations)Provide medication management in accordance with clinical guidelines and regulatory requirementsOrder, interpret, and document diagnostic studies, imaging, and laboratory testsMonitor treatment response and adjust care plans as neededEducate patients and families on pain conditions, treatment options, risks, and expectationsCoordinate care with physical therapy, behavioral health, primary care, and specialty providersEnsure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical recordParticipate in quality improvement, compliance, and patient safety initiatives Patient Population Adult patients with musculoskeletal, neuropathic, post-surgical, and degenerative pain conditionsMay include spine-related pain, joint pain, headaches, and chronic regional pain syndromes Schedule Primarily outpatient, day shiftNo overnight shifts; minimal call depending on practice needs Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant programCurrent national certification as a Physician AssistantActive or eligible state licensureBLS certification requiredPrior experience in pain management, orthopedics, PM&R, neurology, or primary care preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skillsKnowledge of multimodal and evidence-based pain management strategiesAbility to manage controlled substances responsibly and in compliance with regulationsExcellent communication and patient counseling skillsStrong organizational and documentation abilities Work Environment Outpatient clinic and procedural suite settingsRequires standing, walking, and assisting with proceduresEmphasis on regulatory compliance and patient safety
