Position Overview Seeking a BE/BC Neuro‑Oncologist to join a team in Champaign‑Urbana, Illinois with an academic appointment at the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign and the Illinois College of Medicine. Academic appointment (Tenure or Academic Research Track) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Neuro‑Oncologist will practice at the main campus in Urbana with 80% clinical duties at the Cancer Institute/Hospital and 20% research time at the U of I, dependent on interest and experience. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduates, medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and post‑doctoral candidates. Clinical Responsibilities Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of 7 neurosurgeons, 7 hematology/oncology physicians, 4 radiation oncologists, and several APPs. Work with two mentoring physician providers—one in hematology/oncology and one in neurosurgery—to evaluate patients, prescribe chemotherapy and biological therapy, and manage patients receiving intrathecal chemotherapy with Ommaya reservoir. Maintain a clinical clinic staffed appropriately with access to infusion rooms. Participate in biweekly Brain Tumor Case Conferences and provide clinical collaboration and backup coverage with hematology/oncology physicians. Research Opportunities Exceptional research opportunities include access to a 7 Tesla MRI. The University of Illinois offers a wide range of neuroscience research projects, from cognitive neuroscience studies to imaging projects at the Biomedical Imaging Center. The candidate may conduct basic or translational research, collaborate with faculty, attract intramural and extramural funding, and receive a research start‑up package to support new graduates.
