About Mandu Mandu is one of DC’s pioneering Korean restaurants, family-owned and chef-driven, serving traditional and modern Korean cuisine in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. We are looking for a strong Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen team, maintain high standards, and continue growing with us. Position Overview The Sous Chef will work directly with Chef/Owners Danny and Mama Lee to oversee daily kitchen operations, lead the line during service, support prep and ordering, and help train and develop the team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a busy, high-volume kitchen and takes pride in consistency, organization, and teamwork. Responsibilities Lead and manage kitchen operations during service Train, mentor, and supervise BOH staff Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all dishes Assist with inventory, ordering, prep, and scheduling Maintain cleanliness, organization, and health department standards Help control food cost and minimize waste Work collaboratively with FOH and management teams Support menu development and daily specials Qualifications 2+ years of kitchen management or sous chef experience Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to work efficiently under pressure Experience with high-volume service preferred Passion for hospitality and team culture Korean cuisine experience is a plus, but not required What We Offer Competitive salary: $65,000/year Growth opportunities within a respected DC restaurant group Supportive, team-oriented environment Staff meals and dining discounts Opportunity to work alongside experienced chefs and ownership To Apply Please send your resume and a brief introduction through Culinary Agents.
