Interim Director of Nursing StoneGate Senior Living in Lewisville, TX is hiring an Interim Director of Nursing. StoneGate Senior Living is a facility specializing in long‑term and rehabilitative care. We are looking for an experienced Interim Director of Nursing to lead our nursing services in the absence of the facility DON. Responsibilities Perform audits of clinical and operational processes, analyze data from quality indicators, and participate in the development and review of action plans. Coordinate and perform training with facility staff per action plans in line with policies and procedures. Participate in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day‑to‑day functions of the Nursing Department. Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility's quality assurance program for the nursing service department. Attend department head meetings and assume responsibility for daily and weekly clinical meetings. Manage facility surveys made by authorized government agencies in conjunction with the Administrator. Serve on or participate in various committees of the facility (e.g., Infection Control, Policy Advisory, Pharmaceutical, Budget, Quality Assurance & Assessment). Determine the staffing needs of the nursing service department while adhering to the nursing services budget. Assist in recruitment, selection, hiring, and orientation of nursing service personnel. Provide training and orientation to newly hired directors of nursing. Conduct employee conferences, counseling, and evaluations. Assist support services in developing, implementing, and conducting in‑service training programs that relate to the nursing service department. Make daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Review complaints and grievances, file appropriate reports to the Administrator as required. Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission, including PASARR screenings. Provide direct nursing care as necessary. Assume responsibility for decisions regarding all aspects of nursing care, consulting with the Administrator, Nurse Consultants, and Corporate resources. Attend and participate in continuing education programs to stay abreast of changes in the profession and maintain license status. Coordinate with VPCS when not acting as DON for additional assignments. Perform other related assignments as required. Position Requirements Must possess a current, unencumbered, active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice. Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Director of Nursing in a long‑term or skilled nursing facility, or related healthcare facility. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office and various electronic health records preferred. Willingness and ability to travel up to 100 %. Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures, and laws governing long‑term care. Leadership and supervisory ability, and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents. Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position. Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English. Previous long‑term care experience preferred. Regular, dependable, and reliable attendance.
