As academic physicians in theevolving field of ophthalmology, we strive to improve the visionand eye health of all people by excelling in patient care,education and research. Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Ophthalmology at the Virginia CommonwealthUniversity Medical Center welcomes candidates to apply to thisexciting new opportunity for an Ophthalmologist specializing inoculoplastic and reconstructive surgery. The department is seekinga candidate who will be responsible for direct patient care andsupervision in three outpatient settings that include the MainCampus, Richmond V.A. Medical Center, and suburban ASC locations. The department supports a 16 resident ophthalmology trainingprogram with a full 5-year ACGME Accreditation. A PhysicianPractice Group compensation plan provides an opportunity for acompetitive, market-based salary. The position will be offered atan academic rank commensurate with qualifications. Position Responsibilities: Clinical - Responsible for providing high quality, compassionate patient care through collaborative practice incorporating trainees into the clinical practice Teaching - Responsible for teaching medical students, residents, fellows and other trainees in a clinical setting Research - Research opportunities available based on training, experience and interest Other - The candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, establish and promote anatmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication between all staff disciplines, and foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction. Residents and certified ophthalmic medical technicians assist with patient care and ancillary testing.
