MaineHealth, Northern New England’s largest integrated health system, is seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President, Acute Care Pharmacy to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across our acute care pharmacy enterprise. This executive will play a pivotal role in supporting a care team of over 300 people, advancing medication‑use safety, optimizing clinical outcomes, and ensuring high reliability of pharmacy services across the system’s 10 hospital campuses and related acute care facilities. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Pharmacy Officer, the Vice President will lead pharmacy strategy, performance, and innovation within acute care settings, overseeing systemwide initiatives in quality, regulatory compliance, clinical practice advancement, workforce development, and operational excellence. This leader will collaborate closely with executive, clinical, and operational partners to standardize best practices, elevate patient‑centered care, improve financial stewardship, and accelerate the integration of technology and automation across the continuum. Responsibilities Develops and implements acute pharmacy strategy with routine adjustment to reflect the priorities of MaineHealth and to strengthen its vision. Demonstrates proficiency in all elements of pharmacy business and finance necessary to initiate and deliver optimal financial stewardship and identify opportunities for improvement. Develops, implements and monitors metrics for assessing the quality and safety of all acute care pharmacy programs. Leverages clinical informatics and technologies to drive operational effectiveness, care quality and safety and user experience. Engages with MaineHealth formulary stakeholders and processes to maximize value of care and reduce care variation delivered across our acute care settings. Oversees tele‑pharmacy program for MaineHealth and takes initiative to develop and implement pharmacy care integration opportunities across local health systems. Coordinates with other pharmacy stakeholders to maximize pharmacy supply contracts and purchasing to lead to lowest overall cost of care. Responsible for overseeing compliance in all acute care areas related to voluntary accreditations (including residency programs), government and third party payor standards, and local, state and federal rules, regulations and laws. Engages in state and national professional stewardship, including state and national legislative advocacy. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education: An advanced degree (PharmD, MBA, MHA, MPH, or MS) is required. License/Certifications: Must be a registered Pharmacist, or eligible for licensure in the State of Maine. Experience: Ten years of experience in acute pharmacy with at least 5 years as a Director of Pharmacy in a similar setting preferred. Experience leading evidence based decisions about drug use, controlling pharmaceutical expenses while maximizing patient benefit. Completion of an ASHP accredited pharmacy residency, is preferred. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other members of the health care team, health system, educational and community leaders.
