Overview The Director of Dental Billing will manage and oversee all financial management functions for the college of Dental Medicine’s dental clinics. The position has oversight of both the patient and insurance collections teams and will work with those managers to create efficient processes and procedures. The individual is responsible for billing compliance and ensuring the accuracy of coding and claims filings. The individual will closely liaise with the Clinical and Administrative Operations Director and the faculty members responsible for each Dental Clinic. The position reports to the Senior Director of Finance and is part of the Finance and Administration Department. Responsibilities Manage and oversee practice management functions for the dental clinics, including strategic initiatives to meet financial and billing targets. Serve as liaison to the Clinical and Administrative Operations Director, keeping them informed of clinic metrics and performance (e.g., no-show rates, density, financial performance). Create and manage business processes for the dental clinics, ensuring proper coding, filing, and billing for all services. Track and allocate provider revenue for Dental Faculty Practice (DFP) revenues. Lead the revenue cycle and collaborate on the creation of scheduling departments, billing areas, financial subdivisions, locations, and appointment types in EPIC. Serve as liaison with the CDM compliance committee and additional compliance staff. Recruit, manage, and provide staff development and training for billing department support staff; supervise the billing department and oversee timekeeping and scheduling. Forecast and analyze revenue trends and share monthly reports with Senior Director of Finance, Assistant Dean of Finance, and Clinic leadership. Work directly with faculty, residents, and mid-level clinicians on education related to documentation, coding, and compliance; provide proactive feedback and assistance. Develop reports, tools, and procedures to ensure all billable services are coded, billed, and reimbursed in accordance with dental fee schedules. Act as point of contact for patients, faculty, staff, and the Revenue Cycle for billing and insurance questions. Manage and oversee reporting for the billing department, including operational efficiencies, clinical space utilization, registration, denials, and KPIs. Manage departmental contracts and insurance negotiations; assist in revenue cycle budgeting. Perform administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience in administrative services, public administration, or business management.
