Overview In cooperation with other members of the department clinical staff, an Ochsner Staff Physician will provide and coordinate patient care by abiding by Ochsner’s core values of Patients First, Integrity, Compassion, Inclusivity, Teamwork and Excellence and The Responsibilities of the Professional Staff. Education and Experience Required: Board certified or eligible for certification in physician’s primary specialty.Licensed Practicing Provider MD/DO.Credentialed and willing to maintain clinical practice. Job Duties Examine the health of a patient to help make proper diagnosis of clinical conditions and prescribe medication, treatments, and follow-up care as required. Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions. Provide care directly and indirectly by working with other members of an interdisciplinary team to formulate treatment plans. Timely record patient encounters in Electronic Health Record. Request further medical evaluations and make referrals, as necessary. Understand and commit to the highest standards of professionalism; willingness to hold others to those standards. Commit to collaboration with all members of the department to provide quality patient care. Ensure accurate coding of all patient visits. Comply with policies, procedures, bylaws, processes of privileging/credentialing, and standards of care that are conducive to the provision of high‑quality medical services consistent with accreditation standards, state and federal licensure or regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulations, guidelines, requirements, and statutes as applicable. Physical and Environmental Demands Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities. This position involves the handling of hazardous drugs and/or hazardous drug contaminated products either through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste, including contact with patients who may receive hazardous drugs.
