UNC Health is currently seeking a Board Eligible/Certified Pediatric Cardiologist to join our multi-specialty practice in Wilmington, NC. The successful candidate will live and work primarily in Wilmington, NC, to provide pediatric and fetal care throughout southeastern NC in partnership with Novant Health – New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH‑NHRMC). The physician will develop and perform clinical activities in surrounding outreach locations in Southern NC. As a top‑tier academic medical center, UNC Children upholds a four‑tiered mission to ‘CARE’, aligning clinical care, advocacy, research, and education to deliver world‑class family‑centered care. Novant Health and UNC Health formed a partnership in early 2021 to broaden and enhance pediatric care in Southeast NC and expand medical education at the Wilmington branch campus of the School of Medicine, making NH‑NHRMC the tertiary care referral hospital for children in Coastal and Southern NC. Responsibilities: Provide outpatient pediatric cardiology and fetal echocardiography care, attend some inpatient consultation services, participate in faculty meetings and case‑management conferences virtually with Chapel Hill, and contribute to the UNC Children’s Heart Center’s multidisciplinary team which cares for patients from the fetus through adulthood. Full‑time position focused on outpatient care, with occasional inpatient duties. Opportunity to teach UNC School of Medicine students and Novant residents, hold a UNC School of Medicine faculty appointment, and contribute to academic research. Wilmington, NC, is a charming coastal city of ~125,000 residents, known for its moderate four‑season climate, historic preservation district, annual cultural events, and nearby beaches. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Proficient communication in English. High‑level quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills essential for diagnosing medical and clinical issues. Physical Demands: Ability to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk, hear, stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform close vision tasks. Work Environment: Physician generally works in a medical office setting. Noise level is usually moderate.
