HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Project Development Engineer to join our Texas‑based Power Generation team. This role supports power and energy projects primarily within the utility, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), industrial, institutional, and municipal sectors. Responsibilities Lead project development teams, coordinate with other engineering disciplines, monitor and communicate project status, and provide development engineering support for conceptual design and owner’s engineer projects on both a technical and contractual level. Plan, schedule, and lead development projects for industrial‑ and utility‑scale power generation systems and equipment. Develop conceptual drawings, heat balances, water balances, technology comparison tables, site due diligence assessments, project pro forma, equipment quotations, project schedules, cost estimates, bid specifications, pipe and equipment sizing calculations, technical memos, bid evaluations, performance procedure and test reviews, feasibility studies, reports, and consulting. Support the development and specification of power generation systems for simple cycle, combined cycle, cogeneration, distributed generation, reciprocating engine, combined heat and power, and renewables projects. Perform lead development engineering and technical consulting duties as required by project size, type, and engineer skill set. Collaborate with engineers, scientists, real estate/land developers, economists, schedulers, estimators, and designers across the United States and occasionally in other countries. Lead a team of professionals, demonstrating strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Travel for site surveys, technical conferences, client meetings, and schedule monitoring; travel typically less than 10% of the time. Perform other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocity. B.S. degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or related field relevant to Power Generation. Experience with an engineering consulting firm. Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments. Long‑term desire and drive for leadership or operations positions. Excellent communication and analytical skills. Willingness to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs. Proficiency in working within established schedules and budgets. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field. Professional Engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position, e.g., Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng). Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
